40 New things 4 Me

It’s the 8th of September. This time next month I will celebrating 40 years on this planet. I will be celebrating by going to work, as normal, going to university in the evening, as normal and then zooming home, hopefully in time for last orders, not as normal! That is the plan. Unless BF has anything up his sleeve.
The reason I am not taking the day off work is because the following week we have gig tickets for the Thursday night and my university course is on a break. So I have effectively swapped my birthday week (at work) for the following week. However I realise this has given me a longer window to lavish myself with celebratory and/or exceptional behaviour. I am very much looking forward to the year ahead.
I am beginning to plan what I will be doing and when for my 40 new things over the coming year.  Not sure what I am talking about? See this blog here
I have thrown out the ‘throw a low key party’ as it has been pointed out to me that I have done this spontaneously on numerous occasions, straight after many a night at a gig / event / pub….oh yes!

But I must reassure readers for clarity once the 8th of October strikes, the list will NOT be changed and everything must be done. Everything, by the 7th October 2016.

My list so far is only up to 28:
  1. Publish a book
  2. Fly in a Glider
  3. Volunteer at the South of Scotland Wildlife Hospital
  4. Go into an airport and just fly somewhere for weekend
  5. Get into a car and drive somewhere new
  6. Go to Wales
  7. Eat a deep fried mars bar
  8. Bungee jump
  9. Climb Criffel
  10. Learn Aerial Skills
  11. Master two new Hula hoop moves: off body move & slow mo turning
  12. Make a mermaids lapghan - www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mermaid-lapghan
  13. Go on a falconry day
  14. Climb an actual outside rock face
  15. Eat snails in France
  16. Go ‘man suited’ to work including moustache
  17. Go fishing at sea
  18. Walk bare foot in the rain
  19. Bake my neighbours a cake each
  20. Read Pride and Prejudice
  21. See Madonna in concert
  22. Watch The Apartment
  23. Travel alone
  24. Wear a kilt on Burns Night
  25. Play painted Twister
  26. Have a go on an Adult sized Double Space Hopper
  27. Prepare a stand up act
  28. Turn Vegetarian!
You can see from the list, some items are long term...Yes I do plan to turn veggie, hvae been preparing for months and am currently enjoying meat free weeks and new vegetarian cookery sessions. Other items are more instantly gratifying. The point being, each item should bring an experience to my life, something to remember good bad, pleasant or scary. I am up for it all!

So I am asking people to make suggestions, particularly if it is something I can do in Dumfries and Galloway. I love supporting local businesses and local campaigns as well as my bigger thinking picture of the activities I carry out in the hope of protecting mother earth.
I intend to photograph every activity. Blog about every activity and hopefully share some of them with other people that haven’t done it before. Or have done it before and want to join in!

So I will be approaching this list of exciting endeavours, by breaking the year down into seasons. Ten new things per season sounds achievable. Ventures new and lots of adventuring to do. I hope family and friends will join me too. Will you?
Heres to a year full of memorable moments, meaningful memories.
